Introduction

In accelerated MD sampling is enhanced by adding a bias potential to the true potential energy of the system.

Accelerated MD enhances sampling by adding a bias or boost potential to the true potential energy of the system when the system’s potential energy is below a specified threshold. The boost potential can be applied to the dihedral potential, to the total potential or to both.

Another variation of aMD is Gaussian accelerated MD (GaMD). The main difference between GaMD and aMD is that in GaMD the boost potential follows Gaussian distribution.
